I’m a Conscious Connection Parenting Coach specializing in coaching frustrated parents in challenging situations.
I work with parents to help guide them to yell less, stress less, and connect more with their kids with love and compassion instead of fear and control.
I'm a mother and a grandmother who was a special needs caregiver for my identical twin grandsons from ages three until seven years old. As of 2021, they are nearly eight.
I've also been a teen mom, single mom, divorced mom, and a stepmom, had a career while raising kids, and have also been a stay-at-home mom.
To say I've had on-the-job training is an understatement.
I spent my entire life undiagnosed as neurodivergent until 2021, when at the age of 45, I was diagnosed with Severe ADHD, Complex PTSD with Dissociation, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder.
As a successful go-getter, I’ve learned to work with my conditions rather than against them and help other parents do the same.
In fact, I was a copy editor and magazine editor while keeping my grandsons when they were babies and recovering from foot surgery.
It was extremely challenging working from home 50-plus hours a week with kids underfoot and looming deadlines, but I still managed to win the American Advertising award for copy editing in 2015.
I understand life as a stressed-out, burned-out, neurodivergent parent who often didn’t know if I was coming or going.
My husband and I raised our kids the “traditional way” with punitive parenting and experienced many challenges with our kids such as disconnected relationships and even estrangement at one point.
It wasn't until I experienced raising kids again who are neurodivergent themselves that I discovered positive parenting styles.
One twin is autistic, and both deal with mood disorders, severe ADHD, behavior issues, sensory processing disorder, Tourette’s Syndrome, anxiety, and depression.
When my husband and I implemented positive parenting strategies learned from researching conscious parenting and connected parenting and worked on healing ourselves, we experienced a remarkable transformation in our home.
Our grandsons slowly became less emotionally dysregulated and more capable of handling emotions, public outings, and everyday life.
I knew then I had to share my knowledge with other parents and caregivers in similar situations so they too could experience that same transformation.
I was already in the process of becoming a life coach, so I switched gears and became a conscious, connected parenting coach instead.
Conscious parenting and connected parenting appealed to me the most, so I combined the two to create my signature parenting style.
My mission is to help parents in crises with special needs, neurodivergence, behavioral issues, grandparents raising grandchildren, multiples, and the like.
All parenting is challenging, but these situations can be more complex than most.
My goal is to help break the generational parenting cycles of fear and control and ditch the "us against them" mentality while educating parents on more effective parenting techniques.
I help guide frustrated parents to become calmer, empowered, and less stressed so they can parent with more conscious awareness, love, and connection.
I’m certified in REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy). I have a combined 22 hours in coach training and 25 coaching hours within the past year (not to mention more than 26 years experience as a multi-situational parent.)
Let’s work together to help you work through the parenting challenges you face and set attainable goals to create a more peaceful, happy home and productive work life.
WHY DO I DO THIS?
Because I believe in a world where we:
Love and respect each other,
Hold space for each other,
And allow each other to have feelings and emotions, no matter how young or old we are.
It is my passion and purpose to help families, such as yours, to achieve the same goal.
